Convention season is upon us (even though there's a con like every month now). I have a little run of cons that I'll be doing for the next 3 months or so. First up is Heroes Con in Charlotte NC. Couldn't have started off with a better show. I really think this is my favorite show. This con has tons of great guest (some of my favorite artist come to this show only) and it really is all about comics and comic art. As a guest they really take care you. You feel like you are a part of the show without having to "hustle" your way through it. You can mix and mingle with tons of folks without all the hassle. Plus it's kinda in my own back yard! I know many creators have expressed this being there favorite show as well. But if you think differently about this let me know. What's your favorite show? I know there some really cool cons across the country, the world for that matter that deserves their props! So what's your favorite show? What's your least favorite show? If you are comin' to Heroes let me know and we can link up!

Recently I lost my DA sub. I didn't even know I had one to begin with! I am wondering what's the perks with the DA sub versus not having one. I need to know before I purchase one.

Also some of you know I'm going to be the regular artist on Marvel Adventures Spiderman for a while. I started on issue 47. Issue 49 is out in stores now. I posted some pages here as well. Go pick it up and tell me what you think!

Last year Rob Stull ( inker supreme ) was asked to help organize and participate in an exhibit featuring the work of african american comic book artists at The Flint Institute of Arts in Michigan. Here's all the info...

January 24, 2009 – April 26, 2009
Beyond the Frame: African American Comic Book Artists
Temporary Exhibition Gallery
Sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts

Beyond the Frame: African American Comic Book Artists presents the work of African American artists working in commercial, self-published, and web-based comic book and graphic novel genres. The exhibition will reflect a cross-section of artists, some well established, others emerging and active in new areas of publication, such as Internet-based web comic art.

Here are the names of the featured artist for the exhibit.
Keron Grant, Mshindo Kuumba, Leisl Adams, Ashely Woods ( not the British guy ), Jerry Craft, Kenijji Marshall, Sanford Greene, Ken Lashley, Larry Stroman, Kyle Baker,
John Jennings and Damian Duffy, N Steven Harris, Georges Jeanty, Dexter Vines, Rob Stull, Afua Richardson, Leilani Hickerson, Kieth Knight, Khary Randolph, Charles Goubile, Stacey Robinson, Eric Battle and Hannibal King.

It's an honor to be among some great artists. Check out the site if you can't make it to the show. By the way the entrance to the exhibit has the artwork to the cover I did for the Methodman GN it was also used as the cover art for the exhibit program. That was pretty cool to see!

You can see it here...[link] and here... www.flintarts.org

Well.... I'm heading to Japan for a week!!!  I'll be leaving November 29th. I'll be there for 8 days and I am sure I'll be busy the entire time! My main purpose there is to do some lectures and workshops for the sequential art department of Savannah College of Art and Design. The school is flying me out to work with a select group of about 25-30 students. I'll be showing them my process in the comic industry and also showing them how I conceptualize ideas for animation, toys and games, fun stuff!  When that's all done I'll be going on a Japanese pop culture binge! I'm gonna snag all the latest anime, manga, games and toys I can stuff in my extra suite case! I'm also hoping to find some out of print art books I've looking for in the last 10 years. Also gotta get the wife and kids something cool! So I am making my list and checking it twice! I am beyond excited!! Last year London (flew out behave of WB to work on the Dark Knight!) this year Japan! I LOVE my job!! Hope to share some cool news when I return!

Hello again good people. I am comin' to you after a loooong time away but with good reason. Over the past few months as you may know I have been busy wrapping up some really cool projects Wonder Girl, the Method Man GN, not to mention several other projects outside of comics. Most of it I can't really announce just yet. But will most def  keep ya'll posted. On that note last year I had the privilege of going to London on behave of Warner Brothers to work on some special projects for the latest BATMAN movie. Yes me... in London... working with the BATMAN franchise. Can it get any cooler than that?!?   I am just mentioning this because it's really the first time I could! The folks at WB were VERY specific that I keep my mouth shut until the time was right. So I held on to this news for months... and months, now I can gush! Anyway I will  soon post some of the art we did for merchandise and production while we were in London. However, I may have to wait for a few more months. So stay tuned!

Like I said earlier just got done with a few projects and soon will be able to announce my next few gigs! Hopefully by San Diego Comic Con I will be able to talk about a few of those! Speaking of which, I will be attending the SDCC this year and bringing the full arsenal of goodies!  Which includes...the DEADLINES VOL 2 sketchbook deluxe. That is the signed book, an original sketch and a free cd of music from my website! But that's just the tip of the iceberg! I will also have the WONDER GIRL trade which just hit stores and the METHOD MAN GN which will debut at SDCC! Me and Method along with the writer David Atchison will be signing on Friday 12:30 pm shortly after the black panel which I think will be in the celebrity autograph area. I must warn you. I am not sure how many books will be for sale at there so I will just say come to the panel on Friday and find out or, you can drop by my table which is in artist alley. Finally, after a few years I decided to bring back a fan favorite. I recently completed a cross-over print. For those of you who aren't familiar with my cross-over prints. I basically take a popular anime and a popular movie  and cross them over to create a fresh new take. This time I took it a step further. I hope fans will really dig! Check out a little preview right here on D.A! Anyway like I said if you are coming out to SDCC I'll be in artist alley signing and selling!!!  Look the banner with my name on it! See ya there!

Well party people it's time for yet another info filled, better late than never update! As most of you know by now I have a graphic novel that's comin' out in July with METHOD MAN/ Wu Tang Clan. The buzz about this book has gotten me a lot of cool interviews in the past few weeks ( more about that in the near future ) but none cooler than an interview I did for the comics and entertainment pod cast show SIDEBAR! If you haven't checked out this show let me tell you that it is the BEST pod cast about comics etc out there by far! They interview any and everybody that's linked to the comics medium, from artist to actors and everything in between! You can check it out and here me yap about what it was like to work with Method Man plus a few other cool topics including football!!! That's right football.  Holla back and let me know what you thought about it!

Plus let me also take a moment to promote my upcoming convention schedule. First up is Heroes Con in Charlotte NC! Heroes is my favorite show of the year! Tons of artist hanging out in my city ( well sorta ) in the heat  of the summer. What could be better?!! So if you got a moment check me out there on June 20-22. I'll be signing and selling my sketch books which I still have a few but by San Diego they will be sold out and out of print so get it while supplies last! I am also taking commissions for Heroes at the moment so jump in line quick! Well that's it for now. Like I mentioned earlier I'll be making some pretty cool announcements concerning SDCC as well as a few other shows and what's next for me. So stay tuned! I promise not to take another 4 months to update ( fingers crossed ).

New York Comic Con is approaching, so with that in mind I have a few things to share!
This is for all the tons of emails, phone calls and folks at conventions who ask me about how could they get the music I have on my web site. I have some cool news. I conjunction with my DEADLINES VOL 2 sketchbook there will be an exclusive DEADLINES vol2 instrumentals CD! That's right! A cd featuring all of the music you hear on my site along with some new joints that will be found only on the CD!  The unfortunate thing is that the CD is limited and will be an exclusive at the NY and SD Comic Cons. The only way you can get the cd is to request a sketch in the deadlines book and the cd will be yours  for FREE!!! You can't beat that with a baseball bat!!! But... I know what some of you are sayin' " that sucks for those who aren't goin' to those cons! "  But have faith my good people there's a good chance you maybe able to order the book and get the free cd as well but it may not happen until fall of this year. But to start things off my first stop is NYCC, so get ready my people!  See ya April 18-20!! Look for me in artist alley and at DC comics booth!!!

To start the season off right I will be makin' a return after being absent for a few years to Megan Con ( Dates: March 7th –9th , 2008 ) !!! I'll have my  sketchbook DEADLINES VOL 2 available for sale. You can get the regular version OR you can get the deluxe version with an original drawing of your choice!!!    Also  with the successful Wonder Girl mini series is all wrapped up, ( more DC news later ) I am now focusing most of my attention to the Method Man / Wu Tang Graphic Novel. I will post some art from the GN soon. I really excited about this project and it's already gettin' a lot of buzz!!!  I am approaching this book with some new daring attempts. It's dirty and gritty with a lot of fast paste action. So hopefully I can pull this off. I can tell you this, Method Man with writer David Atchison ( writer of the acclaimed comic  O.C.T. ) has some SICK ideas!!! Let's put it this way... This book can be the hip hop version of DEVIL MAY CRY!!! No need to say much more than that!!! for now..... :D

I just got done with the 2007 Comics Art Forum at SCAD ( Savannah College of Art and Design ). I was invited as a guest to do a workshop on dynamic comic page layouts and character design. The workshop was super packed!! It was a real blast to see such a large turn out !!! The students were really eager to learn and grow as artists. It was a refreshing and inspiring to witness. There was a really good list of guest this year as well.  All who are super talented!! I was honored to be apart of such a list. The guest this year included : Jeff Parker, Bernard Chang, Heidi Arnhold,
Kaz Strzepek, Clement Sauve, Chris Appelhans, Mark Schultz,
Jill Thompson, and Chris Brunner.
We ate, hung out,  sketched, ate, traded artwork, ate, took tons of pictures and ate some more!!! I would like to thank John Lowe , Trisha Albano, Ray Goto and the rest of the SCAD Sequential Art Department for having me be apart of such a wonderful event. Also thanks to all the students that came to my workshop and Portfolio reviews!! Thanks also for picking up my sketchbook Deadlines Vol2. It seemed to be a hit with the SCAD students. I had such a blast that I would want to do this again. Maybe next year!!!

Hello my good people... here's a quick update. This Wednesday, September 12th (the day after Kayne and 50 Cents album's drop) will be the release of issue #1 to the Wonder Girl mini series. I don't think it will out sell Kanye's or 50's albums but hopefully it will still do well!! :D... Try to go and pick up a copy and let me know what you think. It has gotten a lot of buzz the past few weeks and should gain momentum!!! I'll be signing at my local comic shop, Heroes and Dragons. So drop by if you are in the neighborhood. Oh yeah... one more thing... I just recently saw this on SPIKE TV. They're was a New York comic con special on a few months ago and yours truly was on it. It actually looks kinda cool. Check it out!!! More big news soon!!!
